Introduced in 2010, the current CLS of Mercedes-Benz is a bit long in the tooth. Now that the German company has already launched the new E-Class on redesigned bases, it is time for the CLS to get a reconversion as well. Several times, in the past few months, on the public roads, the third generation CLS is still under camouflage, but on its way to an official unveiling by the end of the year. We do not know much about the upcoming four-door coupe, but the spy shots suggest that the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS will again be based on the E-Class.
Visually, this is more or less exactly what we expected to see in a next-generation 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS. A swept, low-trough profile conforms to the past and current CLS, and no longer improves indoors. Here we have the biggest overview of the updated interior that we have addressed at this stage.
For the most part, it’s commercial as usual, using the complete catalog of Mercedes interior components and design, including the COMAND Touch Controller on the center stack, analogue clock, bidirectional rocker switches For air conditioning and a large infotainment HD screen in the center of the dashboard. As far as can be said, the only major difference is the redesigned air vents that seem to be torn directly from a design concept.
The car’s platform is the familiar MRA design that is currently in Class C and Class E. This means choosing rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, a standard 9-speed automatic plugin.
In the US, the standard powertrain should be the new 3.0-liter in-line 6 from Mercedes. Above this, the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is expected to also use an inline-6, but with a high-powered electric motor to increase output to levels V-8.
Prices for the new generation model are expected to increase slightly. The outgoing sedan now has a price of $ 66,900, but the final sticker of the upcoming model will depend on which version will be used as a basic offer. A similarly equipped four-door coupe should be sold for approximately $ 68,000. As for the AMG version, expect to cost a little over $ 100,000.
