2019 Ford Edge – Although Ford launched a brand new Edge just three years ago, the SUV market is so hot right now that the company is giving its mid-size 5-seat entry a significant refresh for 2019.

Like many modern vehicles, the Edge ST includes a Sport Mode that modifies various vehicle settings to make the driving experience more enjoyable. In the case of the Edge ST, the Sport mode increases the throttle response, reconfigures the digital dashboard to display a tachometer, and generates sporty engine noises in the cab. It also changes the behavior of the transmission, allowing more aggressive changes in automatic mode, but also allowing the driver to use shift paddles for manual gear selection. A scaling function helps to mitigate changes. Ford has also done a decent job to make the ST sporty, and that may be what matters to some homeowners. Ford has equipped it with a wider mesh grille and darker, side skirts, larger exhaust outlets and 21-inch wheels specific to the model. The Edge itself still looks like a Ford Taurus suffering from a bad allergic reaction, though.
New Ford Edge Technology Features
In addition to adding the ST model to the lineup, the Edge sports some other notable changes for 2019. New safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go assistance and track centering Post-crash braking that automatically applies the brakes to prevent the car from rolling over after an accident, and evasive steering assistance, which provides “steering” to help the driver maneuver around slow or stopped vehicles, says Ford .
Ford has adapted the Edge Sync infotainment configuration to support a Ford + Alexa app that allows drivers to access their smart assistant from inside the car. (The link works through a smartphone connection – Alexa is not integrated with the car.) A Wi-Fi hotspot that can support 10 devices and a built-in data connection is standard on every 2019 Ford Edge.
Ford Edge Specs Engine 2019
Everyone is sure to talk about the new 2019 Ford Edge ST 335 horsepower, but it’s important that Ford has changed the rest of the Edge range into four cylinders. The turbo turbocharger of 2.0 liters replaces last year with five more horses, bringing its total to 250; maximum torque is unchanged at 275 lb-ft. (By comparison, the now-exhausted 3.5-liter V6 produced 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft.) Ford promises that the four-cylinder EcoBoost-equipped rims will be more efficient than before, but have not yet published any figures.
