On the eve of the New York Auto Show next week, Audi plans to hold a global demonstration of a new Audi Sport model away from the crowds at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. We already know that the German automaker will bring the all-new 2019 A6 Audi R8 RWS and rear-wheel drive to New York next week. However, it also provides a surprise, which we believe to be the much anticipated entry-level R8 fueled by Porsche’s 2.9 liter V6 twin-turbo engine. If this is the case, the new R8 could go on sale at the end of 2019.
2019 Audi R8 Review
Audi is working on the mid-life update of the R8 and this test car is the first to appear in front of our spies’ lens, with what looks like a final production body under a thin film of camouflage. as the test car has a wider front grille with more pronounced air intakes and a fully redesigned rear end below the taillights. The rear end now receives larger outlets and a set of massive circular exhaust tips, instead of the trapezoidal end caps of the current model. The new exhaust system also allowed Audi to install a wider rear diffuser, which indicates that the facelifted model will get more aerodynamic program capable than before.
The new Audi R8 is expected to receive the latest bells and whistles from the German company, including the new version of the Digital Cockpit. Small design changes are also on the table, including a new design for the steering wheel and new finishing options.
Audi R8 2019 Engine
The 2019 Audi R8 V10 comes with 540 hp and 540 Nm, allowing acceleration to 100 km / h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. The RS5 coupe needs 3.9 seconds to enter the three-digit realm. Even if the rumors turn out to be true and the R8 will win the EA839, the 5.2-liter V10 will continue to run until production of the current R8 stops.
