Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch the new-generation Sprinter, which will mark an important change for German society. Unlike the current generation, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will not share its platform or body with the 2018 Volkswagen Crafter. Some of you know that Volkswagen used to share the platform, production line and body for both models, to reduce manufacturing and development costs, but the deal did not it does not work.
A glance at these spyshots is enough to tell you that the proportions of the new model are similar to those of the current Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. However, look at yourself a little more carefully and you can see that there are a number of details that are also clearly influenced by the Mercedes 2016 -Benz Vision Van concept (above).
The headlights, for example, are much narrower than before, while the front grille is even larger and more recessed. The sides are also much smoother than the current van with its rakish bars. The more gentle looks at us very much in accordance with the latest style trends of Mercedes, and indeed the Vision Van. In addition, the rear view mirrors are different, and wheel wheels seem more pronounced this last in a similar way to Vision Van. It is difficult to draw many conclusions on the rear, since this minibus may be different from any Way, but the extent to which the taillights are disguised poses significant changes there. Although we probably could not see the great design of the rear light of the Vision Van (Below), it seems possible that there is an echo in the final light group, because Mercedes has gone through a process Similar with the concept and production versions of the new X-Class collection.
Powertrains should be replaced with revisions to improve efficiency. However, it is possible that an electric version is also available in some markets. Again, we can look at the Vision Van concept, to judge what an electric Sprinter might look like. The concept was powered by an electric motor with 100 horsepower.
The sprinters sold in the US will come from a new plant in Charleston, South Carolina. It is under construction to replace the current Sprinter plant in South Carolina, which proved too small to meet the demand of the vans.
Look for the redesigned Sprinter’s beginnings at the end of 2017 or the beginning of the following year.
