2018 Lexus LX 570 – It’s hard to understand that Lexus’ third-generation LX is 10 years old. The body-on-frame LX 570 was unveiled in 2007 at the New York International Auto Show. To put this in perspective, Steve Jobs revealed Apple’s first iPhone that same year, the Marvel film universe did not exist and Hummer, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn were all still in business, just like Mercury. This is the age of this car.
The LX seems taller than its Toyota parents, with an extra 5 inches of nose grafted to the front. The beak-shaped grille offers no escape for the eyes. It integrates the vehicle into the Lexus lineup as the vehicle fits into compact car spaces: just barely, and annoying. From other angles, the LX has a pleasantly honest SUV shape, with large integrated taillights and a split tailgate with a top hatch and a fold-down section that turns into an impromptu bench.
Inside, the 2018 Lexus LX 570 is a subtle blend of elegance. It works. The dominant view of the road and the proportions hit the same note as the Land Cruiser, but the dashboard and car-shaped decorations in the LX rise to several levels above the Toyota. The controls are arranged under a large infotainment screen, a bit random, because there are so many that sting for the space on the console.
The LX also offers a wide range of materials and interior shots for a more luxurious environment than the Land Cruiser. The 5.7-liter V8 on the LX develops 383 horsepower and delivers 90% of its 403 lbs. .-Ft. peak torque at just 3,600 rpm. Coupled with a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds, this Lexus LX 570 is an exceptional vehicle for towing and towing. Unlike many luxury SUVs, the LX has the necessary assets to deal with aggressive off-road conditions, as it shares much of its architecture with the Toyota Land Cruiser.
